About Posnack School
Founded in 1974, Posnack School is an independent, Jewish, college preparatory, dual curriculum junior kindergarten through grade twelve day school. We have over 1,100 students on three Palm Beach and Broward Counties campuses, with 350 students in the high school. Over the past 20 years, we have had a 100% college acceptance rate. Posnack School offers a robust AP curriculum with an 85%+ annual pass rate and students matriculating at a wide range of selective and highly selective universities nationwide and occasionally abroad. Job Overview
Posnack School’s Fischer High School seeks an Associate Director of College Counseling and Academic Advising to join a small and growing team of colleagues who are creative and collaborative. The Associate Director will serve as the academic advisor for grades 9-11; therefore, experience in academic advising in a high school setting is paramount. This is a 12-month position beginning July 1, 2024. Responsibilities and Duties
Effectively advise, support, educate, and mentor students and their families through their four-year academic plan, college goals, and the course selection process while monitoring students' academic progress.
Review and update each assigned student’s four-year plan annually and in accordance with students’ college goals.
Keep detailed records of student interests, activities, academic progress, and college goals.
Manage course selection and add/drop for grades 9-11.
Work closely with school counseling, the dean of students, the principal, and the learning resources director to maintain an up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of students.
Meet weekly with the Director of College Counseling and Academic Advising and high school leadership team to provide timely academic progress updates.
Understand the college admission landscape at various institution types and selectivity levels. Apply knowledge of various college admissions, academic, financial aid, and testing policies to advise students and families while developing and revising academic plans.
Develop, plan, and implement academic advising events and programs to educate and support students and their families with the Director of College Counseling and Academic Advising.
Present effective meetings and presentations for classes, parents, and students at critical junctures in the academic planning process.
Assist with college representative school visits.
Write comprehensive letters of support for students.
Demonstrate expertise in Gmail/Google Drive applications; experience with Scoir is also valued. Be willing and able to learn necessary programs.
Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the effective operation of the department.
Qualifications
The Associate Director of College Counseling and Academic Advising must have a bachelor's degree or higher (a master’s degree is preferred) and at least two years of experience in academic advising. The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, attention to detail, technological, public speaking, listening, and written skills. Salary is based on experience.
