The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a creative, engaging, and dynamic Assistant or Associate (depending on experience) Director of College Counseling for the 2025-2026 academic year to work with 9th-12th grade students. Episcopal’s innovative and comprehensive college counseling program works with students in every year of high school to ensure that they are well-prepared to apply to college. This position is a twelve-month, full-time position to begin July 2025. 

Description of School

Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, a college preparatory educational community of approximately 950 students and approximately 170 professionals, includes grades PreK-3 through 12 that embraces the whole-child educational philosophy. General Duties

- Guide families through the college search and application process with fit and affordability in mind.

- Support college applications for students, including writing letters of recommendation for approximately thirty to forty students per year.

- Prepare and participate in college counseling presentations to 9th – 12th-grade students and parents.

- Participate in and lead small group sessions with students.

- Academically advise and monitor student progress throughout their high school years.

- Contribute to the planning and development of future College Counseling initiatives and programs.

- Support current college counseling programming and organize and manage the annual college fair and case studies program. 

- Continue professional development via campus visits, conferences, webinars, and other opportunities as they present themselves. 

- Represent Episcopal School of Baton Rouge to college admission representatives.

- Manage counseling office communications including social media accounts, posters and flyers, and a weekly newsletter.

- Help administer testing in the Upper School.

- Attend scheduled faculty/division/department meetings.

- Work occasional evenings and weekends as required, including overnight travel multiple times per year.

- Perform additional duties assigned, including, but not limited to, being an Upper School advisor, serving on grade-level teams, etc.

Personal and Professional Characteristics and Experiences

- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

- Three or more years experience in a high-school college counseling position or relevant college admission experience.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to juggle many responsibilities and adaptable to change.

- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

- Excellent interpersonal skills when working with students, parents, faculty, and college representatives.

- Ability to build positive relationships with all students and to create a warm and welcoming office environment conducive to all students.

- An ability to communicate clearly and with appropriate warmth and empathy to students, parents, colleagues, and college representatives.

- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.

- Event planning experience is a plus.

- Appreciation for and understanding of Upper School-aged students.

- Familiarity with educational and college counseling-related technology, such as SCOIR, Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, or ability and desire to learn.

- Embraces the whole child educational philosophy and puts students first.
