Associate Director of College Counseling - Ramson Everglades School


Ransom Everglades School (RE) seeks an experienced and student-centered Associate Director of College Counseling to join its college counseling program. Led by Co-Executive directors, the College Counseling Office consists of a collaborative team of 14 counselors working with ambitious students and engaged families in a highly personalized, strategic admissions process.


This role offers the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s most accomplished students while contributing meaningfully to a program that emphasizes individualized college strategies, thoughtful use of data analytics, and strong relationships with selective colleges and universities. The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of college admissions, sound judgment, and a professional presence that inspires confidence among students, parents, faculty, and college partners.


The Associate Director will manage a full counseling caseload, collaborate on office programming and initiatives, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture that supports students throughout all phases of the college search and application process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Advise and support a caseload of 20-25 students and families through all phases of the college search and application process, including exploration, list development, applications, and decision-making.


Maintain detailed, accurate records of student meetings, planning, and correspondence.


Develop and sustain strong relationships with parents and other key stakeholders, communicating clearly, proactively, and professionally.


Write comprehensive, compelling counselor letters of recommendation for each senior in the assigned caseload.


Build and maintain strong relationships with college admission officials, representing RE students and the school’s academic program, student experience, and signature initiatives.


Lead and/or contribute to college counseling programming for students, parents, and the broader RE community, including school-day, evening, weekend, and summer programs.


Contribute to regular communications published by the College Counseling Office.


Travel periodically to attend national conferences and to visit college campuses.


Utilize college counseling platforms, including Naviance and College Kickstart, to support strategic advising, data analysis, and communication with students and families.


Collaborate with faculty advisors, class deans, and other school leaders regarding curriculum planning and course selection as it relates to the college admissions process.


Engage actively in the life of the school through committee work, faculty initiatives, and/or co- and extracurricular involvement.

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree is preferred.

Combined experience of five or more years as an admission officer and/or college counselor in selective college admission processes.

Experience with student learning management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.

Experience with Naviance and College Kickstart or related college admissions platform(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Social media savvy and ability to communicate with various stakeholders using multiple platforms.

Skilled at gathering information and data, analysis of data, and preparing and delivering presentations with data and other research tools.

Ability to establish positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
