Associate Director of College Advising - Indian Springs School
The Associate Director of College Advising is a full-time, twelve-month position reporting to the Director of College Advising. The person in this role should be enthusiastic about supporting and encouraging students beyond the walls of our office through participation in the advisory program and attendance at athletic, arts, and student life events on campus throughout the year. On-campus housing may be available for candidates interested in Residential Life. The person in this position:
Collaborates with the Director of College Advising to deliver a four-year comprehensive college counseling program for students. This includes leading group meetings for students, parents, and faculty in addition to individualized advising, and assisting in planning and implementing in-person and virtual events (application workshops, educational sessions, etc.)
Proactively supports a caseload of 30-40 seniors (fall) and 30-40 juniors (spring) through individualized meetings. Guides students with respect to course planning, self-assessment, test-planning, building and refinement of college lists, and management of the college application process, including help with and review of essays and applications.
Organizes college representatives’ visits to campus in the fall using SCOIR. Communicates and publicizes visits internally (students, faculty, and school calendar).
For their caseload, manages student transcript requests and sends transcripts and other school documents to colleges, universities, and scholarship programs as requested through SCOIR.
Liaises with NCAA: manages high school eligibility account online, collaborates with Assistant Head of School for Academics to submit new courses for approval annually, and uploads student materials to the portal.
Works with Admissions, Development, and Communications Offices to update the School Profile and parent newsletters, publicize student recognition, and represent College Advising at occasional admissions and fundraising events.
Serves as a proctor and/or coordinator as needed for AP exams, PSAT, pre-ACT, Cambridge Assessments, etc.
Takes part in ongoing professional development through attendance at admissions conferences (NACAC, SACAC, or ACCIS), local counselor events, webinars, and counselor fly-in or drive-in programs.
Participates in relevant committee work within the school.
