Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.

The Assistant Director of Admission and Coordinator of Programs and Events is a vital member of Centre’s dynamic admission team. This position is dedicated to the development and delivery of on-campus programs and events of the highest quality, providing informative and engaging experiences for prospective students and families, high school counselors, alumni, and other visitors, while also overseeing the planning and execution of the daily campus visit experience. The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating off-campus recruitment events hosted by the Office of Admission and Financial Aid, fostering personal connection and a deep understanding of the Centre College experience. The role includes guiding prospective students and families through the Centre exploration and application process from inquiry through enrollment. The individual in this role will represent the College with professionalism and enthusiasm. Reporting to the Director of Admission, this position plays a crucial role in shaping the College’s outreach efforts.

Essential Job Functions related to Program and Event Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Admission to plan and execute on and off-campus admission and financial aid events.
  • Assist in developing the annual campus event calendar to align with enrollment goals and campus-wide initiatives
  • Lead the planning, organization, management and the implementation of a variety of on and off-campus events and programming. This includes scheduling, venue selection and reservation of spaces, catering, AV setup, coordination of necessary materials, outreach to faculty and guest panelists, and creating and directing team schedules for each event.
  • Manage travel arrangements as required for guests, including flights, accommodations, and transportation as required.
  • This individual will oversee and enhance the daily campus visit experience, working with the Director of Admission, Welcome Center, and Visit Coordinators to strengthen programming, including recruiting and training Centre Ambassadors and Senior Fellows.
  • Assess event and daily visit effectiveness through feedback collection and data analysis. Implement enhancements for future visit experiences.
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Essential Job Functions related to admission counseling:

  •  Cultivate and manage counselor and high school relationships, and maintain correspondence with students and families for an assigned recruitment territory.
  •  Coordinate recruitment activities and participate in events for assigned recruitment territory, including high school visits, college fairs, student interviews, alumni meetings, email, text, and phone campaigns, and other recruitment activities to meet application and enrollment goals for recruitment territory.
  •  Conduct recruitment travel in the fall and spring including responsibility for planning and preparation for travel.
  • Meet with prospective students and their families for individual and group information sessions. Counsel students and families on the admission and financial aid process. Articulate the benefits and advantages of a top-tier, nationally-ranked liberal arts and sciences education and residential experience.
  • Participate in occasional weekend information sessions and events on-and-off campus.
  • Read and evaluate applications for admission and scholarship consideration and recommend appropriate admission decision for admission candidates.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the counseling staff and supervisor.
  • Maintain professionalism, build, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with members of the Centre College community, high school counselors, community-based organizations, and other constituencies with which the admissions office interacts.

               

             Qualifications            

           

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Professional experience of 2-3 years in a college admission environment, preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required. 
  • The individual must also have excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and function well in fast paced, deadline-oriented work environment. 
  • Candidates should understand the nature and purpose of a residential liberal arts and sciences experience. 
  • Basic computer skills are required to utilize admission specific software, spreadsheets and calendars, and virtual resources. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team is important. 
  • Empathy and humor are crucial. 
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Limited pushing and lifting. Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel to assigned geographic territory. Mobility on campus necessary.
