Admissions Counselor - William Peace University
SUMMARY: The Admissions Counselor actively identify students who are a good fit for PEACE and engage in recruitment activities to secure their commitment to attend the University. Counselors work with students, families, and support systems, Guidance Counselors, and other audiences who have the potential to influence students’ college selection. Counselors positively represent the University virtually and in-person to build strong, trustworthy relationships with prospective students to facilitate achievement of recruitment goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Manage assigned recruitment territory, which includes planning travel to high schools, attending off campus events, and conducting prospective student appointments and follow-up meetings.
Establish strong relationships with school counselors in assigned territory to facilitate success in securing applications.
Conduct daily pre-tour admissions presentations and post tour Q&A.
Actively participate in all on-campus recruitment events.
Manage student applications in assigned territory and make independent decisions on applications in a timely manner based on grades, test scores, interviews with Counselors, etc. Present borderline applicants to the Admissions Committee at weekly Admission Committee meetings.
Petition Assistant Vice President of Admissions for exception to admissions standards for students with perceived high potential.
Make recommendations to Assistant Vice President of Admissions for Community Service & Leadership Scholarship based on information gleaned in admissions application
Counsel prospective, first-year students regarding navigating the admissions process, financial aid, and generally educating them about the institution.
Conduct regular outreach as appropriate and necessary based on funnel conversion rates.
Interact with family members in managing and supporting their student’s college admissions application and onboarding experiences.
Represent the University professionally, positively, and proactively.
Interact with diverse populations of students, family members, Counselors, and the public.
Travel overnight and multiple days as required.
Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university
Six months of recruitment, sales, or administrative experience preferably related to higher education or other related experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills, outstanding organizational skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and handle information confidentially, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and with minimal direction
Possession of a valid driver’s license and car insurance
Availability for evening and weekend work and overnight travel
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
Preference is given to those with prior experience as an Admissions Recruiter or Admissions Counselor in a University setting.
1 year of college admissions processes, higher education administration, or professional experience in marketing or sales
Experience with Slate, Higher Education CRM
Bilingual speaking proficiency in Spanish/English
