SACAC Collaborates with CGN to Scale Expert College and Career Guidance

Access & Success College Counseling Professional Development Public School Counseling Students & Parents

June 20, 2024 Press Release

School counselors guiding students through high school and toward postsecondary paths need easy, accessible ways to educate and prepare students and their families for the college admissions and career exploration process.

To help meet this need, especially among counselors in public high schools with high student caseloads, the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) is collaborating with the College Guidance Network (CGN), whose trademarked tagline is, “Experts For Everyone, All in One Place” to help support SACAC members with personalized college and career roadmaps and Ava, an AI Counselor Assistant for high school students and the families they serve.

CGN’s Emmy award-winning team works with over 275 national experts – admissions deans, financial aid professionals, career pathways specialists and family therapists – to produce a curated offering of live programming and on-demand, personalized resources.

Benefits of this collaboration:

  • A centralized, trusted source of information from experts made available to SACAC school counselors
  • School counselors get more time to work on advising students by allowing students and their families to access personalized roadmaps and, beginning in September, the first AI Counselor Assistant, Ava
  • SACAC members will have access to all CGN Live Programming plus discounts on CGN Roadmaps for their schools
  • SACAC will help identify members who can participate in upcoming CGN Live virtual events as hosts and panelists

“Access to high-quality expertise in college and career advising is essential to providing impactful support to students and families,”says Sean Kennedy, SACAC President. “CGN’s live and on-demand resources provide counseling professionals with content that can be individualized to the needs of students, schools, and districts. We are excited to partner with CGN to help our members elevate their support to students and grow as professionals.”

Says College Guidance Network CEO Jon Carson, “Counselors are in a difficult place with enormous demands on their time, and with a complex college admissions process and increasing career pathway options, we’ve designed CGN to help SACAC members inform and educate students and their families with the information they need to make better, more informed postsecondary decisions.”
